In USA, livestock farming creates 50 times to 130 times more waste than its human population does.

The amount of manure generated in the US is estimated to exceed 335 million tons of dry matter per year. [USDA] Some estimates show about 7 million pounds of waste every minute in the US.

This would enable 15 million hectares of the land now used for farming to be set aside for nature. Alternatively, on a vegan planet, Britain could feed 200 million people. [George Monbiot]

In USA, livestock farming creates 50 times to 130 times more waste than its human population does. And since livestock waste is not treated like human waste, it does more harm to rivers, lakes, groundwater.

According to US General Accounting Office, USA produces roughly 5 tons of animal waste per year for every US citizen.
