Animals feel things too

70+ billion land animals are raised and killed each year, or 2,200 every second

Speciesism: giving preference to our own species over another, in the absence of morally relevant differences.

Review of 2,500 papers show animals are sentient, meaning they are able to perceive and feel things. A group of cognitive neuroscientists, including Stephen Hawking, signed a declaration in 2012 saying non-human animals have consciousness as well.

Why is it ok to love a dog and kill a pig? The video (produced in association with PBS Digital Studios) is a brief exploration into the philosophy around consuming animal products.
