How To Get Started

So you want to try veganism. Hooray! 

If you need motivation, see this video on how your body transforms on a vegan diet.

Through this process, do not forget your ‘why.’ Remember what is motivating you to try this way of eating and living. It is not about the things you are giving up (ice cream, hamburgers, etc.) but all the things you are adding in your life (vegan ice cream/hamburgers, better health, environment and animals you’re saving, meeting new people who feel this way too, etc.) 

Some of the common challenges to changing behavior according to Milena Esherick, PhD psychology, especially in the foods we eat are:

  PLANNING: Changing habits is hard. It requires some planning.

  COMMUNITY: Not enough people around us eat the same thing.

  TASTE: New foods don’t taste like what we are used to eating.

There are ways to overcome each one.

Change is gradual. It takes time. Every step and effort in the right direction is something worth celebrating!

Everyone is at a different stage in their journey. No matter where you are, be kind to others and yourself.
