Pigs and sentience

By September 16, 2021No Comments

Studies have found pigs are smarter than dogs and 3 year old children

“Dogs look up to man. Cats look down to man. Pigs look us straight in the eye and see an equal.” Winston Churchill

Pigs are among the fastest learners. They recognize themselves in mirror. They are able to open and close doors, guide flocks of sheep, even play video games, and there are stories where they saved people from drowning.

Pigs are very clean, keeping their toilet area far away from where they lie down and eat. Even newborn piglets, within hours of birth, will leave the nest to go to the toilet.

They are very social, love cuddling, and form close bonds.

How we describe mammalian meat could be a euphemism to ease our mind because humans naturally relate to mammals more. Even the word “meat” could be a euphemism to avoid saying I’m eating pig/cow for lunch.
