Rewilding

Rewilding: reintroducing missing plants and animals in the wild, stepping back, and letting nature take over.

While much of pastureland used for grazing animals cannot be used to grow crops, it can instead be used for rewilding. This will allow the many rich ecosystems destroyed by livestock farming to recover, absorbing carbon from the atmosphere, protecting watersheds and halting the sixth great extinction in its tracks. To see rewilding in action, watch the fascinating video on how wolves changed rivers. Or the entire TED talk to see how whales change climate thanks to rewilding. Nature has a remarkable way of healing itself if we allow it.
