Vegan. By now you must have heard a lot of things about it. The goal of this space is to consolidate the essence of that widespread information in one easy place, and back it all up with research. Dispel myths, and bring people together.
I wanted to focus on veganism because I think it is one of the most efficient and simple ways to make a great positive impact on Earth. Measuring each effort for effort, one is likely to make more positive contributions through a vegan diet than through many other efforts. For example, producing one quarter pound of hamburger uses 53 gallons of water and 6.7lbs of grains and forage.
Whether it is the impact on health, the environment, or animals, so much growing research shows that the ripple effects of veganism are far reaching and great. Of course, being vegan is not the only way to do good! But since I am also lazy, I find it easier to save a lot of water by replacing a burger made with meat with a vegan alternative.
It does not have to be everything or nothing. Every single product you buy is a choice and chance, to have the power to do one good thing. Change takes time. It is slow. But we can start today.
